John Elvy

John Elvy is a Fellow of the Australian Property Industry and has been in the property investment and development profession for 43 years, focusing on value adding strategies, workouts of distressed property assets and project development. He was a Strategic Advisor to the State Bank of South Australia and coordinated the workout of their $4 billion property portfolio.

John was a Senior Executive/Director of Colliers & Knight Frank and Managing Director of LJ Hooker International and retired as Executive Chairman of LJ Hooker Commercial Group in 2006. During his tenure as Chairman, John took the commercial business from 13 offices and $50 million turnover to 44 offices nationally and Internationally with a turnover of $2 billion.

In June 2008, John retired as the Executive General Manager development for Leighton Holdings Limited, during which time he was sourcing infrastructure and property projects in Malaysia, China, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and the Middle East.

John heads up a Government Advisory Services business, which provides strategic advice to Federal, State and Local Governments, to add value to their property assets and assist with the designing, costing, funding and co-ordination of infrastructure projects. John is the NSW Vice President of the Property Council of Australia, a member of the NSW Divisional Council and Chairman of the Local Government Reform Taskforce.
